Problem is that not everyone has the same condition. FMS comes
as a symptom set of other conditions, no one "just has FMS". So
it's a matter of dealing with the primary condition, and the FMS
symptoms resolving in the process.
You picked up on that and went to physicians that didn't believe
in FMS as a diagnosis. Unfortunately, there are plenty of slackers
in the medical community that would prefer to ignore the facts,
not deal with the symptoms, and send anybody that confounds
their diagnostic expertise out the door. The "FMS diagnosis" helps
them accomplish that.
The patient is the victim, and continues to be seen as a diagnostic
enigma, to be dosed with narcotics or sent to a pain center. But the
tough part is that the only way the patient has is to demand a more
extensive workup, with specific expectations. What bands were
present in the Lyme check, which test was done, what were the
adrenal cortisols, what was the TSH, what was the Vitamin D level,
what did the MRI of the upper spine show, all the other questions.
Going "outside the box" is not something everybody is going to be
willing/able to do, and that is indeed unfortunate. But it's a fact.
For them, and for the ones that have an unresolvable condition,
the "Tender" group is an excellent 'safe place', and I'm glad it's
there for them.

The responses from CB and Michael are exactly the reason why
Tenderness is growing in membership daily. It's a place where nasty
remarks about 'wanting to have FMS' are not allowed, where threats and
ugly remarks are not allowed. And that's also why it will be here for
years to come or as long as this syndrome is here. The obnoxious
superiority of two people, one of which has stated he never had FMS
and the other states he is cured of FMS or never had it in the first
place, drives people from AFM to more pleasant and safer groups.-fran
