Re: Can Men Get Fibromyalgia?

If you happen to have some spare time, take a look at wheat,
related to multiple sclerosis.
Other stuff, too.

I have had extensive lab work...

My thyroid is fine... all four tests in the thyroid panel fall in normal
ranges.

My vitamin B12 is in the low normal threshold... my vitamin D is in the
low normal threshold which many people have.

I have been tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis - Negative.

I do have very low testosterone and have been taking injections every 10
days for the past three years... that's now well in the upper normal
range... that's not it.

I have been tested for Sleep apnea... negative.

My diabetes is under control A1C is 5.6 can't get much better than that.

The fatigue and muscle pain are unbearable at times... I don't know what
else to check. I asked about MS and he would not give me a referral to
the Neurologist and without a referral I would have to pay for office
visit, labwork and everything else myself. My wallet's stretched as
thin as my body is.

You say you've had every blood test imaginable. So
dig those results out and do some checking for yourself.

Allen, you have fibromyalgia if you have the requisite
symptoms for it. However, fibromyalgia is a diagnosis
of exclusion. The doctor that told you that a man could
not have fibromyalgia is a fool, and he should be asking
his next customers if they want to supersize their fries.

Several conditions need to be appropriately excluded
before you get tossed into the trashcan with a fibromyalgia
diagnosis, because that would mean that efforts to find
out what's REALLY wrong with you had been halted.

You live where there is snow during the wintertime. That
means that you do not get adequate sun during the winter
to make Vitamin D, and you may well be feeling depressive.
Low Vitamin D levels can make you have conditions that
mimic the classic fibromyalgia symptoms. Get your
Vitamin D levels checked..yesterday. Or go back to
those aforementioned test results, if your vitamin D level
was really tested.

BTW, do you also happen to have diabetes? Happen
to be insulin resistant? Could actually be because of
your thyroid.

Most everyone has a thyroid. Right? Even guys.
http://www.drlowe.com/QandA/askdrlowe/antibody.htm

And if it's not functioning correctly, or if the person's
body is ignoring the stimulating hormones, the
symptoms can be extremely close to those of "FMS".
So get your thyroid stimulating hormones checked,
and if you have the symptoms, based on YOUR
research, go for a doctor, such as an endocrinologist,
that can deal with it.

However, don't jump to conclusions if your levels are low.
The parathyroid hormones can be involved, and men can
have hyposecreting parathyroids.
Also, in a Mayo Clinic Proceedings commentary, a doctor
reminded that he had been sent several patients that
supposedly had FMS, but they didn't fit ACR criteria of
having had the condition for over three months.
He also got mixed results with Vitamin D supplements.
You might want to do some Vitamin D reading with the
search terms of "Holick" & "vitamin D".

There are plenty other things you might want to deal
with, including your delta-wave sleep interruption, but
IMO I've given you a couple of highlights. Want to read
about it, use the search terms of "david nye" and
"fibromyalgia"

And no, I don't have fibromyalgia, I train couples that
do on how to do safe and effective fibromassage. And
in the process, I make suggestions such as what I've
made to you.

I have a doctor who says -NO- but I have many of the listed symptoms...
I feel like I have the "flu" in my muscles all the time... I have
pain... and it's my constant companion.

I am tired all the darn time... and get plenty of sleep. I have been
tested for sleep apnea... none found. I have had every kind of blood
test imaginable and am taking B12 injections NO relief.

Please advise?
