One of my co-workers recently had considerable body pain,
difficulty sleeping, migraines, etc. When I pressed gently on
the inner leg, just above the knee, it nearly brought tears to
her eyes.
We chatted about the probable diagnosis, and her alternatives
of being lumped into the "fibromyalgia" category, or finding out
what the real problem may be. Since she is outside a lot, every
day, it didn't seem likely that it was a Vitamin D shortage.
She found a doctor that "didn't believe in fibromyalgia", and that
was excellent, as far as I was concerned. Among other things,
he checked for Lyme Disease, and after a few negatives, it was
verified. (I believe western blot is better than ELISA)
So she is due to start on a Doxycycline regimen in a few days.
Funny thing about those little spirochetes. Wherever they twist
themselves in, the symptoms are created by the organ infected.
Hope that helps answer your question, in a roundabout way.

Wanting to know if there is a definative test for Fib.... Like, if
the symptoms are present is there a test that is run and then.....oh
it is Fib. or do they just look at all the symptoms and then come up
with the DX?

I recently read that a vitamin D shortage is associated with fibro...
Not so much that. Mike was pointing out you can get the trash can diagnosis
of Fibro or look into the many other things that cause the Fibro and have
the same symptoms.
Myself 22 years later and a bunch of fights and we are finding all the
things that cause the pain and problems.
I'm up to 155 lab test and finally have some serious hard data doctors can
not ignore now. It has gotten to the point if I suggest a lab test the
doctors are like "run it" he hasn't been wrong yet.
Mike my latest labs came up with more than the regular nasties in them, I
have more than trace metals I have some wicked poisions in my that need to
be flushed out. And out of all the Lyme test most were non-reactive but 41
kd (Igm) band was Reactive so it's run them all again and if 2 of 3 are
reactive we have yet another answer.
Should DHEA results tomorrow (Doctor didn't even question it) LOL and I
have a few more labs to run.
New doctor flinched when I handed him 95 lab results from before I saw him
and he asked if he could make copies. His boss after meeting me asked me
what I know about GWS and I asked him do you want to know what I know or
what I really think? He asked what I thought and I told him have the patient
take all the labs I have and a few at home home test and call me with the
results.
I think I have now spent more time reading on certain things than you have.
Tomorrow or later I will prove my liver enzymes are not reading right
because of another monor problem and my liver is actually fine or has
another problem other than what was diagnosed. So far I been so on target I
scared one doctor with the hours of research. I walk in the door and I'm
like ok boys we know the problems so lets get to work fixing them.
