Re: Very, very OT: Query re: Animal Planet Show

Not having had a clue, either, I didn't find anything other
than a couple of references to recipes.

http://www.foodinscotland.co.uk/books.html

Getting the impression that it is a generally less than
desirable food scrap. Page 4 of the Farmhouse cookery book
probably comes closest. Even though the author is in Alabama,
there was a lot of mention of Scottish background.

Still waiting for someone from across the pond to tell what "chuckie"
really is.

Ok, so they had the show "Fat Pets" on Animal Planet a few days/nights ago.
Basically, it was morbidly obese pets and either the process of the owners
working to get the pets back in shape without causing them angst or the one
case where the lady simply refused to believe that her 203 lb rottweiler was
overweight.

I'll reserve my own comments about the latter and simply say that I'm glad
that Kenna seems to regulate herself, be it food or treats and simply eats
when she's hungry and conversely, won't eat at all if she isn't... not all
animal caretakers are so fortunate.

Anyway.

A different rottweiler who was 150-ish pounds was put on a diet after
surgery to correct damage to his hind leg (due to his being overweight).
They asked the lady what she now fed him and she replied, "Carrots and
cabbage... oh and his Chuckies." Well, I could clearly see the processed
carrots mixed with cabbage in the doggie dish, however I didn't see anything
else... and I don't know what Chuckies are.

Any UKers willing to illuminate me as to what they are? I tried to Google
it and of course, the first things that came up were restaurants or brand
names to do with Chuckies. Next up was reviews of those movies with that
horrid "Chuckie Doll" who did all kinds of evil things to everyone around
him. I added things like "dog" "canine" "food" and "UK usage" (and most of
the variations that made possible sense). And then I threw up my hands in
frustration.

Any UKers who can help me learn what Chuckies equate to here in the US?
