hey deedee
unless someone has a newer set, last i looked it was
fibromyalgia = 729.1 [unspecified myalgia and myosistis] it's a sub-set
of 729 which is disorders of soft tissue
herniated discs = 722.[XX]
there are however, many sub categories depending upon specific causes.
722.1 = lumbar and thoracic 'displacement'
722.2 [displacement of intervertebral disc, etc. which includes
extrusion, prolapse, rupture]
722.4 = cervical
722.5 = 'Degeneration' of thoracic or lumbar intervertebral disc
722.51 = Thoracic or thoracolumbar intervertebral disc
722.52 = Lumbar or lumbosacral intervertebral disc
and there are more
so - generally - 722.'plus' the specific sub-set for the particular
spinal area, and 'what' has happened.
t'were me, i'd check old records and see if the office ever narrowed it
down in what they show on your chart. you don't want to have anyone
'guess' and then later have to change it.
be well

I need to find the medical codes for fibromyalgia and for herniated
disks. Are these codes the same in each state? I just had to change
health insurance. Found out that my acupuncturist/massage therapist
gets very good cooperation from this company for her services. She
needs the medical codes for my diagnosis. I am going to a new doctor
in 2 weeks, and also wonder if they would give me the medical codes.
I am not changing clinics, my other PCP left the clinic.
