Re: CMPD is NOT Fibro!! Re: For Rosie (Balance Problems with FMS)

it's been crazy around here LOL i haven't had much typing time here on
amf. lately ive been too tired from shopping for moms cooking supplies LOL
now if i could keep some wieght on these ole bones ;-)

I've been doing a lot of educating about CMPD vs FMS lately it seems, and
yes, if Giggz wants to come on down here, i can tell her in a couple
seconds, and help her in quite a few more ;-) it takes a good set of hands
to really get thru tot he Trps... my last therapist was the first in 9 years
to actually work with me, and we found my problem areas and releived them.
now my job is to keep them as happy as possible... tough job too, Trigger
points are not easy to please ;-) but it's definitely worth it considering
the alternative LOL

I'm glad YOU'RE going around the third time on this instead of my
doin'
it.. And please tell her the books and many research papers pile 'em
together calling 'em both FM but they aren't? LOL

Seriously...seeing someone who knows a tender from a trigger point will
get anyone doing a lot better than some MD who knows nothing of CMP
itself.

Whew! Hugs,

Yes, I'm Yelling!!! CMPD is Not Fibro!!!!! but you can have the 2
together!! little knots and bumps on your muscles can wreak havoc in a
body
BTDT, and still doing it! muscle relaxers, long slow stretching with NO
Reps!! Tai Chi & Yin Yoga work the best for me... Keep the stress
levels
down too!! ever since i got rid of 280lbs of stress my CMPD has allowed
me
a more relaxed lifestyle :-) as long as i don't overdo it, of course
lol

Like I SAID, Miz Dizzy <g>....it's b'cuz they make no distinction
betwixt
FM and CMP. Have ya ever been checked for the knots and lumps and
tight
ropes? It wuz a chiropractor found 'em with me....Mayo Clinic glossed
right
over 'em. They are a bigger deal than those that dismiss 'em will
allege
and
can cause significant muscle weakness where yer legs just give out
under
ya.
THAT'S a keepin' yer balance prob. fersure.

The short near-vertigo episodes we have when changing position are
FM
related but aren't really balance problems. Dysequilibrium is the name
and
it's a description of being slow to perceive one's position in
space...not
to the extent you would fall down. It's a perception prob. where it
feels
like we're still moving and we're not. We can't perceive in space that
we've
stopped. It's a very limited thing and if you expect it and adjust for
it
whenever you change positions ( and especially if ya twist yer head
around)
ya won't fall down. It's not a prob. if ya just don't rush. Feeling
queasy
over a hint of vertigo is a sign of dysequilibrium.

So the first paragraph is CMP and is serious and needs gentle
stretching
and reducing carb intake and myofascial release and TrP treatment,
etc.
The
second paragraph is a minor FM thing and just needs practice to avoid
causing it. Ya gots the difference? Yet? Gonna have me go around
another
time? LOL

Plus there's the most common med.side effect. Many of the things
they
give ya for this are dizzy making...especially so when yer
ditzy...err....I
mean dizzy to begin with.<weg>

But it was in many other websites, and I have the problem, and I
don't
have CMP. Three other FM'er friends of mine have it too.
Ya think it's just the Midwest? LOL

Balance is a prob. for many FM'ers. When I was first diagnosed, I
bought four FMS books and read about it. It said that in each one.
It's hard for me to believe otherwise.

Now go get poked! LOL <stumblin' and fallin'>

Giggs

Heya, Giggs,

Bob Bennett is the main FM researcher at OHSU and is notorious
for
not
distinguishing between FMS and CMP; but they are in fact two
different
things that frequently co-exist and overlap but not always. Bennett
is
such
a good researcher and advocate otherwise that this aspect of his
leadership
on FM has been puzzling tome from the get go...refusing to
recognize
CMP
as
it's own entity.

I don't much trust the NFRA, period. Don't the letters stand
for
National Fund Raising Association?

Starlanyl in fact researches more into CMP than FM these days,
seeing
it
as more likely fruitful for effective treatments. Travell's got the
same
complaint that other researchers don't differentiate two the
conditions
that
Starlanyl has.

Of COURSE you have both...otherwise ya wouldn't have un-DX'd
balance
problems. Which is not to say that either of 'em have anything to
do
with
your being unbalanced. <duckin' and gimpin' away>
