Thanks for helping me to understand. I may have spoken too quickly, i was
feeling frustrated myself with the pain and open a support group and find
people treating one another cruelly.
I'm very new here and a bit overwhelmed by it.
I'll continue to lurk for awhile until i learn who to listen to and who to
ignore. I'd like to be able to offer support as well as learn from others
with fibro. I'm not interested in arguing with anyone.

You might not care about or personal lives and only want to know about
the fibro you want, but those of us who've been living with it for years
and years know that our personal lives are very much a part of our
fibro.
We flare when the stress or any other number of factors gets elevated
too much, I haven't been completely without pain since1981. You don't
now how much I'd love to say that my pain was something new.
Many of us talk to various other members on the phone. I've called
others and cried on their shoulders or found them in tears when they
answer the phone. I try to do my best to have them feeling a little
better by the time we hang up. These people are far more than some typed
words on a news group. They have voices and emotions. Some have even had
the opportunity to meet with others.
I know how bad the others must hurt, it physical or emotional. I hurt
because they hurt. I care that you are hurting. Nobody should have to be
in the pain we're in, but the best we can do to make it less is to share
information and be supportive of each other.
When I first started posting here years ago, I must have had somewhat
the same attitude as you do now. I only thought about what I wanted and
needed. I hadn't really been aware of this until several members emailed
me and told me that the reason I wasn't having people respond to me was
because because everything I posted was about me, me, me. I've tried to
correct that, but sometimes don't feel completely successful. These
people care and try to cope with me in spite of it.
When it comes to the problem some of us are dealing, it's a big deal to
some of those who have been repeatedly attacked on the group. The
attackers have their addresses blocked or they have fake ones, so we
aren't able to "take it off the group" to iron out the problems.
There are times we feel like it's completely necessary to defend our
honor and do exactly that. Some use one tactic and some use another. I'm
almost positive that you'd do the same if you're personal information
(or what others think is) was cross posted to every perverted news group
around, and they were inviting the members of said groups to your house
for deviant sex parties. Watch your back. You never know when your name
is added to that list. You might be eating a lot of crow if/when it is.
To be perfectly honest, I'll continue to defend my friends, and maybe
myself, whenever they're attacked. You'd better have the wisdom to
cultivate a few friends that would be willing to stand up for you, too.
It makes it much more tolerable.
You said that it was your fingers that were hurting you. Have you done
something that might have brought it on, or did it just start for no
reason What are you doing for it? Are the doctors giving you anything
for it, or do you have a doctor who doesn't believe in pain meds and
relief? If you could give us a few more details, one of us might be able
to help you at least ease the pain some. There's some mighty smart
people on here.
Good luck with getting some relief.

Well, that's you. But there are folks here with alittle more invested in
this flame war than others and accusations do hurt people. So yes, it's
a support group but yes, it's also an unmoderated usenet group which
means people are gonna do whatever people are gonna do. It's up to the
poster to either filter, support or whatever their own personal needs
happen to be. Me, I'll support Rosie, who's been a long time supporter
of tons of people in this group for years, in whatever she thinks she
needs to do. Everyone else can do whatever they think they need to do.
Last time I checked that was the American way. There are some very nice
folks here and even with the crap, I learn alot and even laugh alot:-)
But I know how to take the good with the bad in life.

Oh, it hasn't really changed, it's just that people get tired of Diana's
crap so they feel the need to defend themselves once in awhile. And
that's okay. You'd feel the same way if you were the one being attacked.
I agree with the original poster on this. I don't know (or care) who
Diana is, i just want to discuss/share fibromyalgia information. Fibro
is new to me, and i'm scared and in pain a lot. I feel like i'm living
my whole life now from pill to pill.
So i don't care about these ppl and their personal little wars, my
fingers hurt now. I can see there are some nice ppl here, i guess it's a
matter of learning who to filter out.
