when you get the baby (sheep or goats) do you give them antibiotics?
because it seems like they may have pnuemonia, and with the babies it
can be fatal in a matter of 2 days my babies were being fed IV's to
hydrate them and that seemed to linger for a day or 2 and they usually
didn't make it. from what I have read you take in orphans and raise
them? they don't get their mothers milk? I hope they do well, it took
me a long time and it still hurts after 20 years of farm animals I have
had to accept death of the weaker animals, every spring it is babies
everywhere and along with it we loose some, it is hard for my 6 year
old but she is getting use to it, without it being such a traumatic
event. even though we get sad we move on. I hope you get good news at
the vets. I have about 3 days before I set my Raccons loose, so they
can get use to the wild before winter, That will be both a sad and
happy day for me, I just hope they don't follow me back to the house. I
m thinking that it might be better for someone else to release them
because they know my scent ( I am mommy to them). I named them Chitter
and Chatter.
These are goats. All three of the rescues from last week (2 different
mommas) have got a rattly cough and nasal indications of allergies.
Two of them are doing alright except for the occasional cough. But the
third one has slowly gotten to where she's not walking. We've tried
the selenium shots for her (worked with Monkey). I gave her 0.225cc
baytril over the weekend, and 0.25cc duracyllin today. I've been doing
lactated ringers sub-q. I'm going to call the vet in a bit to see if
there's something going around, something that can help with the
allergy symptoms, etc.
Good job on raising the coons. It's always sad to let the babies go
when they're old enough.
