Hey J.P. I noticed earlier that you quoted me in an addendum re asking how
people's lives had changed both for better and worse, stuff like
that..anyway, I 'also' noticed that you said you have all Stephen King's
books - and I fell to thinking................ hey! 'I' have all SK's book
in hardcover 'and' in soft. Also youngest son got me the complete set of his
books-on DVD a couple of years ago. This is getting a little scary Janey
Pooh, do you think we were separated at birth? LOL
LOL We talked about that possibility before, Deb. I think there's a
strong chance. Send me a lock of your hair and we'll have yours and
mine analyzed for DNA matches. ROFL But like Vashti said - the book
thing is not spooky, it's having similarly good taste. :o)
Hubby and I are both
avid readers and we have a good-sized library upstairs in our house.
Well, as you know, we used to own a bookstore - new and used. We don't
use E-Bay, cua we don't have credit cards (thankfully!) but we used to
go on "buying trips" for the "Used" Section and we'd scour garage sales
'n stuff for GOOD books. When we liquidated and tried to sell off our
books at garage sales ourselves, we knew you can't get much for a book
at a garage sale (cuz WE didn't pay much - we haggled!), so we kept all
the good ones. The room I'm sitting in right now is our combination
dining room and office and ALL the walls are covered in bookshelves.
The books are all organized into sections - horror and thrillers,
mystery, non-fiction, classic fiction, childrens' books, etc. Didn't
keep much romance or self-help books like diet and exercise books. ;o)
So I have full shelves of Stephen King, Robin Cook, Michael Crichton,
etc., two full shelves of Agatha Christie, and loads of others.
We also
collect first editions and/or as close as we can get to them. ie. I have a
first edition 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' (the only one that pops to mind at the mo'
and as early as we can find, like Emily Bronte etc.
Us too - I have a first edition Gone With The Wind with the dustjacket
still intact (a bit torn), a first edition of Winnie The Pooh, When We
Were Very Young and Now We Are Six by A.A. Milne, and loads of others.
Dylan was especially into first editions and he likes Sci-Fi, so we
have a lot of first edition Sci-Fi books. Don't really know the names
offhand, cuz I haven't read ALL the books we have.
I noticed someone
mentioned Oliver Twist (Jo, I think) I loved it. On Friday I got an old
edition of 'Great Expectations' and a complete volume (about 4" thick) of
Samuel Clements (Mark Twain) works. Oh, and a couple yrs ago I got an Edgar
Allen Poe (gotta love that heart under the floor) who had such an
interesting personal life. Just stated reading 'The Mill on the Floss' at
the mo. Oh and George Eliot -aka Mary Ann Evans. I could go on and on (and
usually do :-) I have the book 'Gone With the Wind' that sis gave me for my
16th birthday (34 yrs ago) and still haul it out and read it every once in
awhile :-) OK , I 'm falling asleep here - and it's 'only '4:09 a.m.
.............. gotta go.
LOL You and I were both sitting here at 4:00 a.m., Deb. Same
timezone. ;o) I went back up to bed and tried to fall back to sleep.
Laid there for about 1 1/2 hrs., but no dice.

If you dance
If I dance - WHAT will happen? Will you read to me? ;o) LOL I can't
dance for very long, so hopefully it'll be a very short book.

Jane
