Janey,
( Heliobactor Pylori?) is what I tested positive for but they can only fix
my ulcer by cutting me because I can't take the antibiotics.
I use to go to poo and squirt pure blood or poop black.
I just take a Prevacid every day now. I don't have it fixed because it's
the least of my worries.

My poor dear sweet hubby Clancy, who refuses to go to doctors until
after he's done every other thing he can possibly think of and he's
suffered for weeks, went to the doctor yesterday and had what sounds
like a pretty thorough work-up for an Upper GI Bleed.
Basically, he can't poop and what does come out is black and tarry.
He told me this yesterday - the black and tarry part - and I
convinced him to go to the clinic and see if they'd fit him in. Of
course, I had to tell him they probably wouldn't do anything but take
blood and urine samples and prescribe him antibiotics for a bladder
infection and something stronger than the Ducosate Sodium I've been
giving him for his 'constipation'.
I knew they'd probably do an internal (and they did) but didn't tell
him. I also knew they'd probably want to do a colonoscopy (and they
do) but didn't tell him that either. Sometimes what you don't know is
easier to deal with than what you do. Black tarry stools are an
indication of an emergency situation, but he doesn't react well to
hearing things like that. But I did have to tell him there are
certain things that happen in the male anatomy (both, actually) that
can't be cured with cranberry juice, oranges and crossed fingers.
He's also had trouble with peeing - way too often, not much comes out
and it stings. So they put him on Cipro, took a stool sample (the
doctor got some while checking his prostate), took a blood sample and
a urine sample and told him to come back today (Wed.) for results and
follow-up. They're concerned that he's bleeding into his upper GI
tract for some reason and it's blocking everything up - like Bruce
from Survivor. <g>
I think this has probably been going on a long, long time and has been
getting worse and he hasn't told me about it 'til now. I've been
listening to him get up to pee five or six times in the night for
weeks now. He's been having trouble achieving erection for MONTHS.
He's been having trouble with the bowel thing for at least two weeks,
probably longer. My suspicion was either a blockage somewhere along
the line or something to do with his Prostate.
But BOY, is it ever hard to tell the guy he should go to a doctor.
Men can be so silly about stuff like this sometimes. If it *is* just
a urinary tract infection or something, the Cipro will knock it out
and he'll be all better in three days and he'll wish he'd gone
sooner. And if it's something more serious (Duodenal Ulcer?
Heliobactor Pylori?) he'll be glad to have it treated when he hears
what the options are.
I just hope and pray it's something they can treat simply. Please do
the same. :o) I'll let y'all know what the labs showed.
Thanks in Advance and Take GOOD Care,
Jane
