Re: Just a Hello from Daddio

I think that's terrible that they equate surfing the net with able to work a
full 8 hours:-( I hope you get what you're after, daddio.............we've
all worked and put into this dang system and when we need it to help US for
a change, then we gotta fight tooth and nail for what should be a walk in
the park:-( Nice to see you post again, it's been way too long:-) I do the
same thing though, life gets busy and my newsgroups participation falls
behind:-( I'm still working full time plus I run newsgroups on another
server. But my best news is I had the gastric by pass surgery this past
Jan. so I'm out exercising more and losing weight:-) Fibro pain is still
pain at times, especially with the increased exercise but mentally I'm very
happy these days:-) Sometimes I think we have to learn to settle for that
level of life...........take care:-)

Hello all.
I know it's been ages since I've posted. I have been off of work for
a year now and even though I have all the time in the world, I never
seem to have enough time to do anything. I don't know how it works
that way but it does. I'm still waiting on my work comp hearing. I
hired a lawyer and he's used up $2600 "preparing" for my hearing. If
I don't hurry up and get to the hearing he'll break me. I have also
been waiting for my Social Security hearing and because I've been off
for a year my retirement pay just dropped by $800 a month. They
cover for one year while waiting for you to get the Social Security.
I'll have to pay that money back as soon as I get the SS so it was
more like a loan in the first place. The worst part about waiting
around for hearings is that you can't go anywhere for too long in the
meantime or sure as hell the hearing will pop up while you're gone.
I have gone to see my folks in Arizona a couple times and hope to get
out of here for a week or so this month just to keep from going stir
crazy. My lawyer said he would call me if the hearing gets
scheduled. Of course that service will probably cost me $150.

I'd like to say I'll keep track of the group but the way things have
been going I never know. I see so many names that have been around
for years and notice that the advice and support they give is still
the greatest, not to mention the friendships that grow out of a group
like this. I hope everybody is doing well and is able to have a good
doctor that understands what's up. I have taken a lot of information
from this group over the years into work comp hearings to support my
case. They do pay attention these days where as in the earlier days
they wouldn't listen to anything. The power of the internet speaks
volumes. But be careful! They also have tracked my internet usage
and tried to argue that my "ability" to surf the net for hours proves
that I am "able" enough to work a full 8 hour day. whether I was
surfing the net for hours or not means nothing. Their accusation is
all it takes to place doubt on my abilites. When I obtained my files
for my lawyer (a pile over 4 feet high!!!) there were pages upon
pages of my entries in this newsgroup as well as my other internet
activities. They are building their case on this very thing. I
guess that means if you can type on your computer for anything more
than a few lines a day, then you must be "able" to work full time.
They went all the way back to 1996! Let a word to the wise be
sufficient.

I'll try and keep in touch. Don't let the man get you down.
