Sore Kidney and Hurt Feelings

First off, in general I am doing so much better I can hardly believe
it. The Mirapex is working REALLY well. But yesterday I started
getting a really bad pain in my left kidney, at the back and deep
inside. It doesn't feel like I muscle pain, but hurts every time I
move or breathe. Really sucks. I hope it goes away soon.

The hurt feelings part comes from my ever-lovin' and always
exasperating husband Clancy. When he got home from work yesterday I
told him about this pain and he said, "Oh yeah. I get that too
sometimes," and started back telling me about his day 'n stuff.

This is not a man who offers up compassion or sympathy easily. It's
like pulling teeth to get him to say something like "Poor You." I've
given up, in fact. When I told him I needed a biopsy he said, "Oh
yeah. What day is it? I'll have to book off work." And when he told
his mom about it over the phone, he said, "Y'know, we've been through
so much that it was no big deal, really. Just like - 'Oh Yeah'. "

So, last night I asked him if he wanted to go for a little walk and he
said, "But you were whining and moaning about your kidney. I wouldn't
think you'd want to," and I burst into tears.

"What now?" he asks, in a condescending voice. I told him I just
thought it would be nice if he offered a *little* sympathy and
compassion once in a while and he said,

"I'd be working pretty hard to keep up, Jane." Which means - "I can't
give you sympathy because there's always something else, always MORE."

It's TRUE, but sometimes it hurts to live with such a cold man.

I'm just whining and moaning. Pay no attention to the girl behind the
mask. She seems to have put the wrong mask on this morning. Have to
go find the cheerful, happy-go-lucky one. ;o)
