Some years ago (like when it first came out), I used Wellbutrin (also
marketed as Zyban for smoking cessation) to quit smoking. It works on
impulse behaviors somehow, so I didn't just quit smoking and then pick up
some other habit/addiction. At that time, I quit for 9 months and lost a
little weight. Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant, so you may still need
something to help with the pain part of the fibromyalgia. For whatever
reason, I resisted the stronger painkillers, even though my pain did and
does render me bedridden way too often and (the pain and my unreliability
due to the pain) ultimately left me unemployable (and now "officially
disabled" after waiting 3 years and going through the appeal process).
I have seizures now (NOT related to the Wellbutrin, as it has been probably
a decade since I took it), though, and can no longer take it. At the time I
took Wellbutrin, though, seizures were a possible side-effect. At that
time, I didn't have any and the only possible side-effect (which I'm not
certain I can blame on the Wellbutrin, because I was on quite a few other
RXs at the time) was difficulty sleeping. It's like 1:45am here, though, so
the "difficulty sleeping" thing has remained a problem. There are times I
really wish I could still take Wellbutrin, though. It really *was* a decent
anti-depressant.
Hope that helps,
Mary

Would like to talk with anyone who has had either successful or
unsuccessful results with mirapex for treatment of theirs or someone
significant to them for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Used for two
years great results were rapid weight loss and feeling on top of the
world. However, went into massive spending while on the medication and
am now off totally. Feel like crap all the pain is back and so is 18
of the 45lbs. that I lost. If I could take it again with no side
effects would do it in a heartbeat!!!! Is anyone still on the
medication taking it with something else to counteract the Dopamine
agonist in the meds???? PLEASE I would love to be basically pain free
again.
Thanks to all who have read this,
Carmen
