Re: OT ? Drafts

Now this phenomenon didn't make a whole lot of sense to me
at first, but it was while watching a program showing how
lava forms "pillow-lava" when it runs into the sea, and
understanding that when two substances are of a different
enough temperature, they can maintain that "difference" for
a while and behave as this "cold" was doing in our house,
but only when the outside temperature was cold enough to
make that difference.

Since then, I've been draft hunting, and just found another
one near the corner of the living room doorway. Only a small
gap between floorboards, and only a few inches long, but a
veritable fountain of cold that was "running" into the
living room and across to Elaine's feet. Two minutes with a
bit of rolled up tissue paper and voila! Elaine's feet are
now protected.

Like I said, sneaky things, drafts!

Now I wonder how many people are suffering from sneaky
drafts that only manifest like this when the outside
temperature drops enough to generate this "running cold"
phenomenon? Makes ya think huh?

Sure makes sense, Mike. I could sure use some "draft
spotters and chasers" in this old house of our's. I'm
glad Elaine is more comfortable.
Nanny

I'm treating this as my new hobby. The difference it makes!

For the reasons I've outlined, I'm considering household
drafts to be a far greater contributor to the pains people
suffer than they seem to be regarded as. Its almost as if
drafts are a kind of "condition" in themselves, turning what
could be a comfortable home into some kind of "sick
building" (if thats not too extreme a term), and adding
significantly to the "dweller's" conditions.

I'm also now looking for a plumbers shop where I can get a
few cheap temperature guages to stick in various places
around the house. I want to know what our "in-home" weather
system is doing! 8)
