Good for you, too, Fran! Nanny

GOOD FOR YOU!!! I hope that all of us will follow yours and Alex's
example of not being passive patients. I tell everyone in my circle of
friends and family and also my patients that they have to look at
themselves as consumers not patients. If we go to a department store
and are treated as badly as some are at their doctors office, we would
refuse to go back, we would never put money in their cash
registers/pockets again. Why should it be different with any doctor
who is providing us with less than good treatment, who won't answer
questions and shrugs off our complaints. Find a doctor that you can
trust, that you can talk to and that you can get respectful treatment
from. I had a doctor that I hated so much that it was all I could do
to go in for my yearly physicals, I found my present doctor about 15
years ago when I was injured at work, and he was the hospital doctor
assigned to oversee my treatment. He was caring, pleasant, answered
all my questions, and propped me up when I was discouraged. After I
was discharged from treatment for the injury, I asked him if he would
take me on as a patient, because I just could not face going back to
the cold and callous *** that I had been seeing. He did and he has
since then saved my husbands life, and has become the PCP for my entire
family. I hope that you find exactly what you want in a physician
Nanny and that you and none of us ever settle for less again.--fran
