Its no surprise that this has caught up with you. Its
unavoidable, and adopting a denial attitude would have only
made it worse IMO.

You appear to be instinctively doing "the right thing" and
I'm sure that once the downside of realising just what has
happened (past) and dealt with what is happening now, you'll
find the upside coming back.

You need to realise how well you're handling this, and enjoy
giving youself some credit here y'know. :)
