Fibro and blood pressure meds

I have been away from this group for years since I found ways to manage
and live with my disease (meds, massage therapy, gentle exercise,
accupuncture, regular sleep schedule, etc.).
About two years ago, I started having high blood pressure and went on
the so called "water pills"--no problems. But in the last two months,
that alone hasn't been controlling my BP. My doctor has been trying
every class of drugs, but they all have the same side effect. It is
muscle and nerve pain, especially in my hands and arms which is similar
to carpal tunnel. I had carpal tunnel problems a long time ago; after
my physical therapist threatened to visit my office to evaluate my
situation, they bought the ergonomic equipment that was recommended and
that solved that problem.
My doctor keeps saying that she has never heard of this side effect and
it shouldn't be happening with every class of medication. But it is
very clear that the pain starts when I go on a new med and stops when I
stop taking it.
Has anyone else had this experience? If so, were you able to find other
ways to control blood pressure? I am reaching an impasse with my doctor
over this, since the doctor sees controlling blood pressure as the
highest priority. I don't want to live with this stuff simply to
prevent future problems which might not happen anyway, especially since
my blood pressure is only slightly above the "okay" level. Thanks for
any help anyone has to offer.
