She or a designee logs onto www.medicare.gov and compares the plans
available in her area. Some of them, depending where she lives, offer full
coverage with a Medicare HMO, too. That's the best option if it's available.
The drug coverage begins Jan. 1 so she'll just hafta get thru then. Her MD's
office is likely to be able to give her 2 weeks of samples to tide her over
until the new coverage kicks in.
She, or her designee, can also apply thru her local Soc. Sec. office for
state help in paying for her medical care and prescriptions.
It's cases like this that SSDI is for so that the disabled aren't left
sick and homeless.
