Yeah, but it was just an end-of-aisle seasonal display. The Krogers I
bought them at isn't a super store like the one we shop at while you
and the boys visit, which sells everything under the sun AND is wanting
to grow even bigger if they can force KMart out next door... who knows,
maybe they'll fit an amusement park in there. I rarely shop there
because folks I grew up with *do*... so do my folks.
I still haven't re-filled the waterbed, despite how damned
uncomfortable that makes sleeping (and it makes my pains worse) because
it takes so much work, and because I had to fix the platform that
supports it, which I'm not convinced won't still fail now... An air
matress is much less work and won't flood my house should it fail (and
weighs a ton less, so won't stress the platform). Life goes on. I'll
get around to it when the weather gets warmer. Maybe. Just like I'll
climb up into the attic and fix the wiring for my bedroom ceiling fan
lights, re-paint the bathroom, crawl under the house to check for
leaks, etc. Things that hurt and aren't causing me excessive grief for
$1,000 please, Alex...
;~)
BTW, I bought my bed in Austin in 1987... had to fight to get a
replacement mattress when the fiber pad and baffles' brass hold-down
thingies separated, and the bed wouldn't lay flat (1988), but
everything has been original since. They're fairly loose now from
having drained and re-filled it numerous times now, including each time
I've moved. But it still feels great with the heat on. The heater dial
is useless now (has been for years); can't read it, but I know about
where to turn the knob and then just watch for the light to flicker,
which tells me it's at the right temp. And of course, my add-on
vibrating discs stopped working right before I drained it (short in the
AC adapter cord).
It's all gone to show me that a firm bed (foam mattress atop a futon)
is NOT better for my back than a waterbed... :~P
Oh, and that new comforter with matching shams set I bought? I thought
I'd gotten a good deal for $30, but I checked the receipt, and they
only charged me $15! I may just go back and buy a few more for
Christmas gifts!
