It depends on whether you have Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (terminal essentially) or Hodgkins Lymphoma (very treatable and outcome usually great). She has the Non-Hodgkins variety. All the literature she was given says they can hold the symptoms off a while but it will be terminal eventually.

Well tell her I, my aunt and cousin, who all had lymphoma at the same time are now 4 year survivors with no additional symptoms. Yeah!!! I don't even think about it anymore. My aunt was 85 when she was diagnosed and never finished her chemo but is doing superb at 89. My cousin is also doing fine as I am too. So there is not much to worry about. The outcome is usually successful.

It is all so interesting though. I have noticed that I have much more difficulty in understanding Scottish than Irish or England English. Scottish seem to roll the "Rs" and use very different usage of words and phrases as you were talking about. Do you notice that Americans have a lot of different ways of saying things? Remember Peachy? She seemed to express things differently than you and UK-Mike.
The accents in some part of Scotland can be really hard to understand. Here in Edinburgh its a fairly soft accent and not hard to follow. The Aberdeen accent is really hard, even G (a Scot by birth) has issues with it.
I do remember Peachy. I hope she is getting on ok. There are many variations around the UK. I never noticed a difference and always knew what she was saying.
Do you have siblings Ali? You have not mentioned siblings and I was just curious. How is your mother doing? Is she on chemo? How did they find the lymphoma? What were her symptoms? I had none. They found the spot on my spleen by accident when looking for problems with my stomach. I had a CT-Scan and there is was. I guess I got lucky eh? Take care.
I have a sister. She and I speak to each other if we have to and not if we don't. She has a husband and a 4 year old girl. I also have 2 half-brothers and a half-sister from my dad's first marriage. I speak to my half-sister from time to time and have met one of my half-brothers. My mum is not doing too badly. She is on chemo tablets which they hope will extend her life for about 5 years. They found her NHL because she was referred to a kidney specialist, ended up admitted to hospital and had a million and one tests. She gets more problems from her crushed vertebrae than her Non-Hodgkins. She knows that is incurable and its just management til it takes over her.
Take care
Ali
