What do I think? LOL....
Having had 3 boys and IMO, none of the three were little when born!!
To paint the picture.....Rick was 8'1 and was 19¼ inches long, head
circumference was 14 inches around! Justin's was the biggest at 8'11 and
20½ inches long. His head was 14 around also. Ryan is the biggest now but
was the smallest born at 7'12 and 21 inches long, same head measurements of
14 inches.
All three, bottom line that 14 inch head had to make its way out!!!! Not
a minute of that was painless. LOL I laugh now but it was far from funny
then. ;-)
Rick was an end result of 32 hours of labor and the last 4 hours of that
were pushing. They had numbed me locally down there but at the time I
thought bull!!! That thought was before I had Justin!!! LOL I got to the
hospital at 4 something in the afternoon and he was born at 8:58p.m.
Everything moved so fast and then I was only dilated to a 8 and they said I
couldn't push. But the feeling was so strong to need to!! The nurse checked
again and just that quick in a few minutes I was at a 10 and ready to push!
So they said I could start while the stretcher was being wheeled to the
labor room. Long story short, we arrived down the hall to the labor room and
Justin's head was crowning!!! Sorry honey, we are about to have a
baby....hospital terms for sorry no numbing PLUS....opps...we need to hope
for the best b/c its too late to do a cut b/c his head is right there!!
Ryan, its like the numbing didn't work a bit!! I swear to you it felt as if
a basketball was being delivered! In other words something waaaaaaaay to big
coming out of a place waaaay too small!LOL
Thats my birthing times with mine and I will admit totally I was far from
silent!! Weird thing though I never screamed like I heard the lady down the
hall do( IMO, at that level of pain it hurts too bad to scream!) I remember
shaking, trembling all over and thinking there is no way I could do this!!
But each time I did and the end made it all worth it! ;-)
It is very weird to see the difference in the *today* deliveries! My
sister had me in with her and her husband for both her girls, she was given
an epidural(sp) and she literally had to be *told* when to push!! From what
I hear they are using it more and more these days to make labor painfree.
Would have been nice but back in my having babies time , they had just
started using it regularly. They tried it with Rick after about the 12th
hour and it wouldn't work on me!! They said some people get total relief
from it and others none. ;-( I stupidly didn't even ask for it with the
next two (after all it didn't work for me right?)....I later found out just
b/c it didn't work once doesn't mean it might not have one of the other
times. GREAT!!! Now they tell me....LOL
