Here's a typical clueless seller:
jmartin1213
Numerous identical items ending within 5 minutes
of each other, if not within seconds.
And "Standard Shipping"? What might that be?
Stuff I see in listings for Blu-Ray titles is amazing.
Shipping:
The only way to ship a generic BD title (up to 5 platters)
is the obscure USPS First Class Parcel rate in a bubble
envelope. Only a small minority of BD sellers do.
I see sellers using Priority Mail, which will be about twice
the cost of FCP, and provides no extra benefit for a
shipment that doesn't need a cardboard box. I see sellers
using Media Mail, which will be $1.00 more than FCP, and
is DSR-killer-slow. And, of course, sellers rarely communicate
the DC number (because they are buying it separately at the
USPS counter, and not even getting the pre-printed label
DC discount for doing so).
Stock Photos:
A red flag, and entirely misleading 73.8% of the time,
as many BD sellers are breaking up multi-format sets,
and you will not get what the stock photo shows.
The seller-entered item description often fails to clarify
exactly what's on offer, and it appears to be more
incompetence than malice.
Returns: Not Accepted
Another needless red flag, and scammer magnet. The buyer is
covered by BPP, so what this off-putting term really means
is that the buyer will get a refund AND keep the item,
and clobber the DSRs.
Another recent gem:
"Buyer agrees to pay within 2 days of auction close. No exceptions."
Wanna bet?
With eBay/PayPal fee creep, it's probably getting more expensive
every year to learn the hard way. Most BD sellers would lose
less money dropping their unwanted titles at CD TradePost.
