There's something glaringly wrong with this story.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090406/od_nm/us_germany_skeleton_1
It's not a moral issue or a legal issue.
It's a technical issue.
Somebody give me the phone number for bull***.
I need to make a call.

Suicide Man’s Body Hidden Up Tree For 29 Years
FROM: The (London) Metro News ~
When Paul Ludwig committed suicide, he didn't
want his distressed family to find his body.
Suffering from cancer, he left a note at home saying:
'Don't look for me – you won't find me.'
The 69-year-old climbed a tree, tied himself to it and
shot himself with a rifle, which he'd lashed to his
body to stop it falling to the ground.
And there he stayed, undiscovered, for 29 years.
Then, Sebastian Gunther and Stefanie Bauer, both
20, were taking a romantic stroll in a forest when
they spotted a bone in the bushes and notified
police.
'Once they were in the woods, they also found
a hip fitted with two artificial joints – so we knew it
was human remains,' said Mr Gunther.
When officers looked up they saw the skeleton
nearly 12m (40ft) above them in a fir tree in
Bruckberg, southern Germany.
'With two artificial hips, I have no idea how he
managed to climb up the tree. It wasn't so high,
I guess, 30 years ago,' said Mr Ludwig's nephew,
Klaus Kiefl, 39.
Bavarian police believe the ropes got tighter as the
tree grew and eventually severed the arm and leg
bones which fell to the ground.

Suicide Man Hid Own Body for 30 Years
FROM: The Austrian Times ~
A suicidal man hid his body up a tree for nearly 30
years because he didn't want his distressed loved
ones to find him.
Thoughtful Paul Ludwig, 69, tied himself to the top
of a tree and then blew his brains out with a rifle,
which he'd lashed to his body so it wouldn't fall to
the ground.
When he disappeared in 1980 after being told he had
cancer, he left a suicide note saying: "Don't look for
me - you won't find me."
And he wasn't discovered until 29 years later when
bones from his rotting body began to fall out of the
tree.
Courting couple Sebastian Gunther and Stefanie Bauer,
both 20, were horrified when they spotted one of his
arms in the bushes.
"I took a photograph and showed it to a vet who said
it definitely was not from an animal. I showed it to the
police and they sent a team along immediately to
investigate.
"Once they were in the woods they also found a hip
fitted with two artificial joints -so we knew it was
human remains," explained Gunther.
At first police crime scene experts began digging for
a body. But it was only when they looked up that they
saw what was left of Ludwig's body nearly 40 feet
above them in a fir tree in Bruckberg, southern
Germany.
His nephew, Klaus Kiefl, 39, said: "He had decided to
kill himself but it seems he didn't want to distress
anybody who might find his body. That was why he
killed himself in this way.
"But with two artificial hips I have no idea how he
managed to climb up the tree. It obviously wasn't so
high I guess 30 years ago."
A Bavarian police spokesman confirmed Ludwig had
been declared officially dead 12 years ago.
"He absolutely did not want his body to be found.
It was only the fact that the body decayed so much
that the bones started to fall to the ground which gave
the game away," said the spokesman.
Police believe that the ropes restraining the body got
tighter as the tree grew and eventually severed arm
and leg bones which fell to the ground.
