Yeah. I've always tried to use sealed/wrapped plastic cups or my
travel mug. I have my own "Do Not Disturb" door hangers and don't let
maids in the room unless I've requested it.
I knew a guy that was a day sleeper who got fed up with maids
disturbing him. He made a door hanger featuring a stick figure of a
female and a little cart. The female had "X"s for eyes and her tongue
was hanging out. She was hanging by a noose from a tree. He told me he
designed it for maids who couldn't read English.

It explains the ammonia smell in the glasses.
