I don't take anything on here as the Gospel truth, but I can get a
general idea of what direction to search based on the responses.
Tell your accountant your smartass Usenet friends tell you you never
have to pay or collect Alabama sales taxes, or pay Federal taxes on
income you make from eBay. Or was it that you do have to pay Federal
tax, but not Alabama sales tax? Or was it that you do have to register
with Alabama and collect and file sales taxes, but not income taxes
unless it's over $400 a year. Or was that $600 a quarter? And was
that for an individual, or for each member of a family? And can you
deduct those sales taxes? Wait - I don't think you have to pay any if
you don't sell more than $200 a year. And what about the 15.3% Social
Security tax? It's all so damn confusing. I bet it would help if you
had an accountant to tell you. I also bet people on Usenet will lie to
you, or just say stupid stuff which they themselves heard once heard
on Usenet and repeat without really knowing whether or not it's true.
You think?
