what's your experience with USPS carrier pickup?

I've used this service 40, maybe 50 times and today was the first time
the mailman didn't come to my door. Only other problem so to speak is
that I must get to the door right quick when they knock--if I'm not
there within 10 seconds of the first knock they start to leave.
