This is really curious because they used to do this, years ago. If someone was NARU for whatever reason, all FB they had left was turned to "neutral." They had to stop doing that because the feedback forum got so big that the servers would crash. Now they're going to remove the FB, not just neutralize it? Stand by -- this could be very interesting.

See, that's what I thought. Turning it to *neutral* was stupid, since
most viewers believe that's equal to a neg.
In another place in all of those pages I read yesterday, it talked
about just removing the ratings.....and in other cases, the entire
comment would be removed. (I *think* the comment will be
removed when the buyer doesn't respond to a UID but has
left a neg.) So, what's changed? Nada.
Kris
I think what's changed is that they say they'll remove *all* feedback left when an account goes NARU. How many accounts per day do you suppose that is? There are the ones suspended for cause, some permanent some temporary; there are the ones who request to be unregistered; and there are those that are closed because the member is no longer living. Maybe 200 a day? What kind of stress on the servers will that be? eBay has been operating with feedback since the fall of 1995, and some people have left thousands of feedback in that time. Stability of the servers has increased tremendously since 1999 when the last big crash happened, but the servers that feedback is on are not like the servers that the auction listings are on. They didn't anticipate deletions, only additions. You know how difficult it has been to get older comments removed. If it's more than six months, they haven't done it. Now they will.
Did Donohoe and Cobb talk to the tech side before announcing this?

I doubt it. But there's lots of ways to cover it. They don't
necessarily have to delete the feedback; they can just put
a "marker" on it, and not display/calculate it.
