Am I being unreasonable?
Yes. You were told what the total is, use Paypal if you like, as long
as you pay.
Actually, I wasn't. I was told what total shipping & handling would be, but
not given the total of my winning bids.
Is sending out such an invoice hard to do?
If it's not what the seller usually does, yes. It's make-work which
provides no actual benefit to you or the seller.
Hmmm. From what clams casino said above, it benefits the seller by having
only one transaction with Paypal, which means he pays smaller total fees.
It benefits me because we track our finances using Quicken. Every credit
card charge gets categorized. With one Paypal transaction I have only one
charge to categorize. (Yes, I know that's a very small benefit. It is a
benefit, though.)
I'm a freelance worker by trade. I invoice my clients as they want to be
invoiced -- if I'm working on two projects for the client, I send separate
invoices for each project if that's what the client wants, and a combined
invoice if that's what's wanted. It's just a matter of providing good
service to my customers, which every business should want to do.
