Worsening US-Canada Trade?

I've depended on Ebay sales for my main source of income for a few years
now, and for years the bulk of my sales (here in Canada) were to US buyers.
But in recent months, the number of US buyers has sharply and steadily been
declining. A year ago at this time, the US made up for about 75% of my
sales. Between April and June of this year, US sales amounted to less than
25%. I actually sold more items to overseas buyers than to the US. As a
result of fewer US bidders, auction prices are also way down. I finally
ceased selling on Ebay altogether until at least fall, hoping that maybe
things will pick up then, but I'm not too sure they will.
Is there a good reason for the sharp drop in US bidders buying from
Canada? Surely the minor change in the exchange rate (a few cents/dollar in
the last 6 months) wouldn't have such a drastic impact. Has the USPS imposed
new or worsened customs on parcels from Canada? USPS already discontinued
economy shipping to Canada this spring; I suspect this has hurt American
sales to Canada and perhaps some Americans are unfairly trying to retaliate
by boycotting our auctions.
Another, more disturbing theory can be found when researching Ebay site
traffic trends, at www.alexa.com . It shows that general Ebay traffic has
been steadily declining for some time now - so maybe everyone is in the same
sinking boat?
Have other Canadian sellers been having similiar experiences?
