I never had any luck with BIN slamming. I had a lot more luck bidding
low, however.
I am now writing some moderately complicated perl scripts. These look
at auction titles, throw out the junk such as "NR", "LQQK" and so on,
then they try to identify the brand, model number, attributes and
"what it is".
For example
"AC TECH" (brand)
SF210 (model)
"2 HP", "220VAC" (attributes)
"inverter motor drive" (what it is)
I want to keep developing this stuff for a few reasons, but one would
be to look for misdescribed items. For example, if my scripts know
that "SF210" is a inverter motor drive, that sells for X, and then see
a auction for "unknown electronic device SF210", offered for 1/10 X,
then we can guess that it is the same SF210 as everyone else is
selling, but not described well. Then that auction could be flagged as
"possible misdescribed" and then I could have a look at the list of
those more closely.
