A recent post here noted that younger people are not
collecting antiques & vintage stuff.
As a dealer who primarily sells postcards, I can say
this has become painfully clear the last few years.
They're not easy to come by, but you can make a very nice profit on old B&W
post cards of beach towns. I bought a bunch of them 8-9 years ago on the
cheap and now they're going like mad, and for good $$.
Generally speaking, young people don't have the perspective to appreciate
nostalgic items. Therefore, you need to focus on profiting big on fewer
cards, i.e., black and white - preferably divided back - cards of now
defunct spots. Some items fitting that description that not too long ago
sold like crazy are beach towns like Key West, Port Aransas, Tybee Island,
Sanibel Island, and some of the Northern California beach towns. There are
many more, but these - and this type - I've seen going for upwards of $100.
I shit you not.
