Under the 'Consumer Electronics' category, there is a sub-category for
'Vintage electronics'; which has auctions of 1960s to 1980s
electronics; some of which may be undervalued.

You are correct, but this has been true for a long time. All the best
classic tube amps and tuners were snatched up by Japanese collectors during
the 90s. If you find one now, you can get thousands, but decent pre-1965
pieces are quite rare.

Other less-common, yet not too-limited examples of vintage electronics
include:

* Turntables
* Receivers
* 8-track tape players esp. with notable style designs.
* Radios 1960s and esp.1970s
* Calculators 1970s
* Roll & reel tape-recorders are also worth consideration.

SEE LINK http://tinyurl.com/2g4bup of where to find Radio,
Phonographs, TV, Phones under Collectibles category from around the
Mid-Century times.

A "pre 1965" piece of consumer electronics will almost certainly have leaky or shorted electrolytic capacitors in it.

Considerable expertise is required to proprly restore these.
Plugging them in and turning them on can cause permanent and repairable damage.
