Links using the URL are the preferable way to show an image or a
website. The link-to-website allows the reader to get the full
article only if they are interested in reading it, and makes the post
shorter.

How can you not be able to access a URL if you are using a newsreader?
Your newsreader is web-based. Even rinky-dink set-ups like WebTV
access the net.
