For my online buying I normally shop around, and look for recommendations,
especially for anything say over $200.00. If it's something for that much, I will
pay a few bucks more to a place I have heard good things about over some place I
have never heard of. On Ebay when I am searching the first thing I look for is the
PP logo. Then I skip to the shipping option. Last thing I look at is the feedback.
I HATE going to the store, so I do a lot of on line shopping. I don't know if I
have just been lucky, but people trying to rip me off just does not happen. The
last 2 times I had to do a chargeback was for 2 large companies. One was the people
who put out Norton, Sym.... something? It was a couple years ago. Could not get
them on the phone, could not get them to respond to E-Mails, finally picked up the
phone. The bank did not bat an eye. The last one was Mcafee. I had not used them
for a hell of a long time. all of a sudden they charged one of my cards. The last
time they did this was about 9 months ago. I did get them to fix it but it took a
long time on hold, then I got someone who could speak English just about as well as
I can speak Spanish. This time I just called the bank, told them and that was that.
The only time I ever got burned on Ebay was when I first found them, and tried to
buy some toy for a nephew. They burned me, PP refused to do anything. After that if
it could not be paid with CC, I normally pass. I love the way I am protected when I
shop.

I'm not sure what exactly your problems were with Symantec and McAfee, but the second
instance sounds like you were signed up for the automatic renewal, something that you
may have inadvertently given them permission for when you registered or updated with
them.

But the news here is, after all your recent puffery, you have never done a credit
card chargeback on an eBay purchase. And you were trying so hard to sound like the
voice of experience.

In fact, when replying you clearly stated: "I would do what I have done in the past.
Tell them either make it right or I take my money back." Now you claim you have been
very lucky and that "people trying to rip me off just does not happen". Either
you've been in that situation on eBay or you haven't, you can't have it both ways.

My criticism earlier was for allegedly engaging in transactions that you knew were
dubious, thus being a contributing factor in your own risk, and then using the cc
chargeback to bail your ass out. I told you it was stupid to get into that situation
in the first place, something I would have avoided. If indeed that was your regular
practice, then you would have been truly "special", treating the terms you agreed to
in a transaction as if they didn't apply to you. As it stands now, you haven't ever
done what you were claiming was your normal modus operandi.

As a follow up to your allegations that I can't get a cc, of course I can, and I use
them all the time. I use a cc when making any purchase through PayPal. But again, I
carefully review the auctions to look for risks before bidding recklessly. So I am
smart enough to use the cc for protection if/when needed. But as I said earlier, it
is a safety device for reconciling problems that could not be foreseen, not to be
used as a tactic to take advantage of a seller when their policies are stated
clearly.

You also made the false assumption that I may feel sellers have "the right to rip
people off". What a foolish allegation. People who have followed my posts know that
is clearly not the situation. I do what I can to encourage people to play fairly and
follow the rules.

Your time here would be much better spent encouraging others to practice safe eBay
trading and avoiding any risky deals, rather than encouraging others to be reckless
in their trading. The use of a cc for safety in a transaction is good advice, but
avoiding risk in the first place is a far better way to proceed.
