A bike part that I inadvertently left out in my driveway 2 weeks ago,
has now appeared as an auction listing on eBay, by a seller in the same
town as me (no surprise). I am 100% positive it's mine due to
excellent pics that show a Sharpie-inscribed number among other
noticable details, etc.
What's the best strategy to try and recover it?
Write to the seller. Tell him you have pics of the numbered part, which
will be sufficient probable cause for an arrest warrant. Give him a
deadline to return your part or face the cops. Remind him that eBay
cooperates with law enforcement inquiries very, very readily.
Yet again excellent advice from Dhakala.
It worked here in Denver recently, when a very distinctive pool cue and
its personalized case vanished from the repair shop and turned up on
eBay. :-)
