Re: Is ebay the right way for me?

I'm a manufacturer of wire brushes with about 400 SKUs, 25 that would
probably be eBay-able. They average $2 to $10 ea. I would appreciate
some advice in the following areas:

Would I do well setting-up a store? It looks like a lot of work, but we
are willing to make a commitment to do it right. How long should it take
for us to know if our strategy is working? Or, is there a firm that we
can hire to do the job?

What criteria would I use to best choose products to offer?

What product cost to shipping cost ratio would be best for eBay customers?
Like, packages of 6 units at a cost of $12 + $5 shipping or packs of 12
units for $24 + $7 shipping...or like that...? UPS and FedEx are here
every day and I get good discounts with both and I would prefer to use
them but USPS is a little cheaper but someone would have to take stuff to
the PO.

No, you wouldn't. USPS will pick up your packages; all you have to
do is call or schedule.

I prefer UPS and FedEx when I buy on eBay, do other customers perceive an
advantage on shipping carriers?

I would *never* buy from a seller who ships UPS. We've had historical
problems with them, and another major "crisis" within the past week.

Is there a psychological price range to maximize sales?

We aren't very good at small orders now, and this will take some strategy
to make it work. I want to offer high quality USA products and good value
and service and have put in place plans and systems to minimize costs for
small orders. My fear is that my products won't displace the cheap
Chinese crap out there.

What's the best way to for me to convey quality, value and service to my
customers even though prices are a bit higher?

Any other thoughts?

Lure them in with quantity pricing?

1 is $5
3 for $10
7 for $20
etc?

Get a couple different sizes USPS Flat-Rate boxes, and see how many
you can cram inside one for $8.10.....then offer that many in a bargain
lot.
