This started when my brother was looking to buy an item on ebay and
found a great deal, so he ended up telephoning the seller using the
phone number at the seller's store. The seller didn't know he was
selling it.
I got curious enough to see how how long I could string out the
process. I knew I couldn't
do as well as the anti-419's but I thought I'd try.
I found a CANON DM-XL2 MiniDV Digital Camcorder for sale on ebay that
was being sold by
the same group using yet another hijacked account. A great deal it was
only 500 Euros.About 700 Canadian. Retail price on ebay is about $4500
Canadian for a PAL only camera. The seller was supposed to be in
California.
As instructed, I contacted the seller before bidding. Apparantly, the
seller had his ebay email address scammed so I couldn't be reached
through that address. The only address that would work was the one at
yahoo. I also knew I could trust this seller because he told me to look
at the excellent feedback of this seller.
So I did. I felt that this transaction required a new name. I chose
John Samstron, in somewhat homage to my dad, Sam. And I got a new
email address at gmail (jsamstron), because gmail doesn't include the
sender's IP address when the web interface is used.And while I once
accidently walked in the 800 block of East Hastings in Vancouver, I
got the hell out ot there as soon as I could.
The seller's email address was at yahoo.com. Their IP address is
86.104.18.192 and the reverse DNS is 86.104.18.192-internet-isp.kb.ro
-- ro stands for Romania. But they quickly
moved to Rome. All the seller's details are as received.
The emails from 'ebay' and 'dhl' look a lot better than they do here.

hijack scammer.
I'm disappointed with ebay. Granted that the people caught by these
scams are usually doing so to get an unbelievable bargain outside of
ebay, people stung by these scammers are probably going to avoid ebay.
