I related it to my own experience. When I am shopping for something, I RARELY will click on an item that does not have a thumbnail. The rare exceptions are when the item is actually rare or hard to find, the price draws attention, or something about the listing draws attention. I figure if they're too lazy, clueless, or cheap to do a gallery thumbnail, they are probably sloppy in other areas as well. And it takes time to click into lots of thumbnails.


Like Steve, I rarely click if there isn't a gallery. But, it's not that I have any problem with a seller who takes the cheap route - I respect that! It's just that my eyes are just automatically drawn to the ads with the gallery pics. Usually there's so much stuff to pick from, I just never get around to looking at the ones with no picture.

And from a sellers standpoint, I found that once eBay sold us all on Gallery, it was pretty much an essential cost if I wanted to get looks.

I was sort of surprised to see usage dropping off, and wondered if it was just me.
