Re: I like these terms...

Funny that this would be coming from the very same person that
stomped his feet and threw a tantrum because he didn't want to pay
the $3 convenience fee PNC wanted for cashing the check. Then you
came in here whining about it for three solid weeks. I guess at the
time you simply "didn't understand it costs money to run a business."

No offense meant to Walter, but some people just like to be on the
"other side" of an argument, and it doesn't really matter what the
subject is.

Well Dave ... in case you don't know the history here ... that was roughly 2 years ago (or so) and "Rita" is the one who likes to be on the "other side" of an argument. I can go on and on about the things people charge for ... but I thought it was a bit outrageous to charge me $3 to cash a check for $12.95.

The check cashing place down the street doesn't take personal checks, but if they did, they aren't allowed to charge more than 90 cents to cash a check that small. This bank has access to account numbers, signatures, etc ... and wanted to charge me more than triple the "allowed" fee.

If they hadn't waived the fee, I'd have sent the check back to the guy who sent it and told him I was unable to cash it because the bank wanted to charge me too much money to do it. It isn't about what it costs to do business.

In this case, I wasn't a customer of the bank. The person who wrote the check was ... If they want to inconvenience their customer by making it hard to cash checks at a local branch, that's up to them ... I don't have to deal with them.

I do understand that it costs money to run a business, but there is a difference between collecting fees, pricing your wares and just being greedy. $3 to cash a check drawn on one's bank is greedy to me and I won't pay it. When I needed the transmission rebuilt in my Buick, most people quoted $600-750 for the job. One transmission shop said $1500. Guess who didn't get the job?
