Hi, I've been using eBay for a few months (in UK) to sell items and have had no lost items until just now. I've sold something to a lady and after a few days of waiting, she's not received her goods.
I have Royal Mail's Recorded Delivery slip and the insurance pretty much covers the cost of the item. What is the eBay best practice in this regard? Is it best to e-mail the recorded delivery details to the buyer and let her persue Royal Mail or should I refund the buyer and chase Royal Mail for the compensation myself.

Ditto to both the above. Here in Canada, the post office doesn't consider it lost until it's been at least 30 days (regardless of how fast the delivery time was supposed to be). Check with the post office for when you can file a claim. Tell her you'll refund her money on that day (because this is the day when the post office's position on the matter changes from "it's still likely to be delivered" to "it's not likely to be delivered"), then make the claim yourself after refunding her.
