One has to be used to it, in Usenet. Flaming really isn't worth
responding to.
I never let them bother me, and by responding to them, I would give
them
the credit they don't deserve.

About dealing with difficult people, I have this trick I call
"not making accounts." I try not to add up or keep track of
the problems that people are causing me or thinking they are
causing me. Then, if they don't rent space in my mind, I am
one step "richer" in my spirit.

Then, I try to treat them kind of like an out of control robot
that I can somewhat program by what I say. If I know they
will say offensive things to something, I try to avoid that subject.
If I know they raise their voice, I try to avoid doing what
provokes that. This way they don't get to show their ugliness
at quite the intensity which they would like to, and it kind
of calms them down. Then they cause less scenes which means
that are not quite as memorable when they are not around. If
they are, go back to above paragraph.
