So, the google taskbar will do almost as many useful things as using the Firefox browser. Ain't that special!

The biggest thing issue I have with Firefox is that I can't use the Google toolbar. Firefox makes a version of it, but it doesn't have the "remember your address" stuff.

But Google has announced that they are going to to make a Firefox version.

I have also heard rumors that the toolbar will be used in their system of ranking search results, meaning that the people clicking on a link will result in better search placment. Right now the system seems to partially depend on just having links that lead to your site.

And the whole SEO discussion usually loses me right after that part.

Actually, what the toolbars are used for -- and it doesn't depend on which company's toolbar it is, is to plant tracking cookies to see where people go and what they do when they get there so that their marketing departments can leverage that information for advertising - to aim ads at users more likely to take the bait, and to charge more because of higher conversion rates. Nobody is giving you a toolbar to make life easier. It's considered valuable real estate.
