I'll see how I go with this, as I would be interested in how others more
experienced with Ebay than I am would react (there were no CC's in the
header, it was sent to just me):
Dear (My Ebay I.D., Obviously Edited Out) (ape31000@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx),
We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended due to
concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the eBay community.
Per the User Agreement, Section 9, we may immediately issue a warning,
temporarily suspend, indefinitely suspend or terminate your membership and
refuse to provide our services to you if we believe that your actions may
cause financial loss or legal liability for you, our users or us.
We may also take these actions if we are unable to verify or authenticate
any information you provide to us.
Due to the suspension of this account, please be advised you are prohibited
from using eBay in any way. This includes the registering of a new account.
If you would like your account to be considered for reinstatement, please
fax us or send us any document listed in Group One AND any document listed
in Group Two. Remember to write your user ID on the fax so we may identify
your account.
Group One ? Evidence of Name
- Copy of a current full Australian Driving Licence (any state)
- Copy of a current Proof of Age Card
- Copy of a current Medicare Card
- Copy of a current signed passport including photograph
- Copy of a current Defense Force Identification
- Copy of Notice of Assessment issued by the Australian Taxation Office
Group Two ? Evidence of Address
- Recent copy of a Utility bill or a certificate from a supplier of
utilities confirming the arrangement to pay for services on pre-payments
terms. Mobile phone bills are not acceptable.
- Copy of Local Council rates bill (valid for the current year)
- Copy of a current full Australian Driving Licence (if not used for
evidence of name)
- The most recent copy of a mortgage statement from a recognised lender
The personal information on a billing statement or ID must be valid and
legible or we will not be able to reinstate the account.
You must also include a valid telephone number with these details to be
considered for reinstatement.
Please note that any documents (a copy of your ID, utility bill, phone bill,
etc.) provided to eBay will be destroyed after your registration information
has been verified.
For security reasons we cannot open attachments sent to us. Therefore,
please either fax or post this information to us.
You can fax this information to eBay at (02) 9475 0517.
If you are not able to fax this request to us, you may mail it to us at:
Attn: Investigations Appeals
eBay Australia
Locked Bag 10
Australia Square PO
Sydney NSW 1215
***Please ensure you include your User ID on any documentation sent to
us***.
If you are uncomfortable with the current eBay policy requirement that all
members provide and keep current your contact information, you may want to
provide a valid voice mail phone number or work number in place of your home
telephone number. Both options are acceptable as contact information.
Once we have received this documentation, we will review your case. If you
have satisfied the conditions for reinstatement, your account will be
eligible for reinstatement.
Regards,
Investigations Department
eBay Trust & Safety
The reason that I am taking more notice of this is that unlike previous
threats to suspend my then non-existant account, this one required
confirmation via mail or fax from within Australia, and subsequent to
receiving this, I was unable to access Ebay other than to browse. In answer
to a following reply , when I tried to buy another item by clicking on the
"buy now" icon there was no reaction at all. BTW, if it is felt that this
email is genuine, I have no problem supplying the requested information.
Allan
