Re: To our UK, Lebanese, & Egyptian brothers

Yep. It is a tough philosophy, because it means I occasionally have to vote against somebody I don't hate, and sometimes I have to vote for somebody I detest. But that's what I do.

There are lots of things you can do ... but voting for people running for office is like picking the winning football teams in a pool.

Assuming there are 16 games every weekend (there aren't because some teams have the weekend off at some point during the season), if you could pick the winner of 15 games, you'd be far ahead of the curve ... and I'd bet dollars to donuts you couldn't pick 15 winners consistently. We aren't even talking about against the spread here. We are talking straight up winners.

The difference between football and politics, though, is that if your favorite football team loses, even in the Super Bowl, life goes on. Politics and the world we live in aren't a game ... but I am of the opinion that all politicians are players, jockeying for position in the next big money making deal.

If they are sooo eager to serve the public (as they often claim they are), then they should do it free of charge (collecting only an allowance for clothing and shelter ... or better, have dorms set up like the average college for them to live in).
