I have a guy in charge of returns and etc related to loss control. He has done "investigation" (for lack of a better word) on some of our refunds, returns, complaints etc for the last three years in both the brick and mortar and the online sales.
He tells me that we are seeing a dramatic increase in refund requests for Ebay sales that we are not seeing on sales generated from our other web presences nor the brick and mortar operation.
Before I spent a dime on cameras, I'd spend time doing more analysis.
What items are problematic? Is there a trend for returns, based on shipment destination? Could the shipper(s) or employees be involved?
I can't see Ebay/PayPal giving a damn about pictures of the packing process if any of the scammers file INR or use the PayPal complaint process.
You're right....and neither will a credit card company.
You can call your eBay customers scammers, but why are the other online sales not presenting these problems? Did he extrapolate the figures by sales venue, or is he just presenting total numbers? Do you eBay sales show the same upward trend? There's *fewer* layers of protection in your other online areas, you know.
Is your "loss prevention guy" a good investigator and statistician?
