One of the librarians in our school system makes over $100,000 annually.
Holy smokes.. in what part of the country are you?
Another question would be, what level of librarian? And how long has s/he been on the job? Library Science is a Master's degree, which generally boost salary a bit.
Maybe it does, but don't expect me to vote to pay top dollar for a librarian, regardless of her credentials.
One example does not a survey make. Twenty-three years of employment with my local school board would carry a salary for a teacher [and I suspect a librarian] with a Master's of $55,846 for a 196-day school year.
Which is probably still too high for such a short year.

Teachers' salaries will vary by the local cost of living. There are districts in California where the teachers are offered low-income housing in adjacent areas (just like the maids and gardeners) because they can't afford to rent in the district.
Before slamming teachers for getting a living wage, consider a few things.
I think that $55,000 is a very fair living wage for the skill set and educational requirements of an elementary school teacher.
Especially considering they don't even work 12 months out of the year.
You are free to disagree with me, but I will not vote for public salaries that reach astronomical levels when compared to similiar private private sector posotions.
