When you have tons of legacy programs still in use?

There are loads of ways to deal with that. The first option would heve
been to take UG up on their offer nine years ago.

At that point in time UG would certainly have cost a lot more
and probably not have worked as well for the task at hand.
Plus training costs & leaning curve & upgrade costs ...
