maybe.

On september 10th switzerland is going to turn on the largest particle accelerator ever built.
The accelerator is like a circle a mile long(guessing).

Vinny:

It's like an ellipse, about 16.7 miles in circumference.

The particles will be going around the mile long circle 50,000 times per second.

[At the peak, the hydrogen protons in the new collider will reach 99.9999991% of the speed of light. Each packet of protons will complete 11,245 laps around the collider every second and carry as much power as a speeding train.]

Nothing in the known universe except light goes that fast.
It will literally almost reach the speed of light.

"Medium-energy cosmic rays have energies up to hundreds of trillions of electron volts" The Large Hadron Collider can develop energies of 14 trillion electron volts (two colliding 7 trillion electron volt beams). Cosmic rays are hitting the outer atmosphere of the Earth constantly. No black holes there (that we can tell).

Some think mini black holes will be created and destroy the earth. I dont believe that, but...I do believe those particles will reach a point where they are going back in time if Einstein was right, or at least time will stand still.

Time would only slow to a standstill ON or BY the traveling particles themselves, not in the surrounding environment. Any micro black holes that might be created would supposedly evaporate in something like 10^-29 seconds.

The problem is nothing since the big bang has smashed into each other at that speed.

So here we have particles going so fast time is almost standing still, then to be hit with slow moving particles.

This will be a time experiment.

Only for the particles themselves. Doesn't seem to bother cosmic rays, or the surrounding environment.

I will be with my familiy on that day, I suggest the same for you guys.

They plan to turn on the Collider Sept 10, but actual high energy beam collisions aren't scheduled to start till Sep 21. You're not going to take 11 sick days off, are you? <g>
