No, typically you "program" it, in a programming language.
You don't "teach" a computer how to sort numbers, do you?
There are robots that learn their moves in a teach mode, and
some CNC controls allow you to do this as well, but it is too
coarse and inaccurate a method for most machine tools.
The typical language is commonly called "G code", but
technically is called RS-274D.
