I would use a professional translation company. Do a Google search on
"Document translation service". Pick a company that has experience with
technical and engineering documents.
There are a bunch of companies out there that provide this service.
Dan,
Problem I have with those services are that none I can find are
knowledgeable about our trade. Ask the typical Spanish speaker how to say
"CNC milling machine attachment with CAT40 taper and equipped for a multiple
spindle head drilling operation using industry standard ER25 inch or metric
collets" and you pretty much get an english sentance plugged into a spanish
document... Or a translation that is soo far off that it doesn't work for
someone in rural Mexico who doesn't know a lick of English but works in a
factory as a foreman and knows he needs a product. If you want to translate
"see jane run" or even "let us meet to discuss the business details" those
services work fine... But not for technical stuff.
Amazing that I can find a competent Chinese translator but not Spanish.
I work in shops in So Cal, where English is only spoken in the front
office. Many of the workers, while intelligent and hard working, are
not long out of the village. In spanish, there simply are NOT a lot
of words to describe technical stuff, particularly machining and
aerospace stuff. In many ways, its a non technical language. They
are quit adept at modifying an English technical word, within a shop,
into spanish, but that new word isnt wide spread, nor taught in a
rural school in Calexico, nor will be anytime soon.
You want translation problems...try German to English and visa versa.
In english, there may be 2 words in the descriptive. In German..its a
paragraph run together with a half pint of spit.
